The term "fishery" refers to the business of catching a particular species of fish. For example, the salmon fishery refers to the business of fishing for salmon. Fish are a renewable resource, or a resource that should never run out if we manage it well. Many fisheries, however, are over-fished. That means we are taking too many fish from the ocean. In many cases we are taking juvenile fish; those are fish that are not yet adults. We need to make sure we leave enough juvenile fish in the ocean so that they can grow up and have babies.
